Abstract

This research article provides a comprehensive analysis of
competition law and the challenges faced by competition authorities
and stakeholders in Pakistan. The study examines the provisions of
the Competition Act, 2010, focusing on anti-competitive agreements,
abuse of dominance, mergers and acquisitions, and the role of the
Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) in investigation,
enforcement, advocacy, and capacity-building initiatives. The
research identifies key challenges, including the limited awareness
and participation in leniency programs, cross-border competition
issues, challenges posed by digital markets, market concentration,
and the need for consumer protection and awareness. These
challenges highlight the importance of enhancing cooperation among
stakeholders, strengthening international partnerships, promoting
competition advocacy, and empowering consumers to make informed
choices. Through a multi-stakeholder approach and effective
implementation of competition law, Pakistan can foster a competitive
business environment, protect consumer interests, and promote
economic growth and innovation. The findings and recommendations
of this study contribute to ongoing efforts to improve competition
regulation and promote fair competition in Pakistan's evolving
economic landscape.
